Stupid Streamyx Customer Support !!

May 21st, 2008 | Category: Malaysia, Technology

Streamyx is quite a good internet service and I don’t deny that. Its much faster to use streamyx compared to normal dial up. I am using a a wireless router and also the modem given by TM. I fixed everything and all worked fine. Since now I’m moving to MMU in Melaka, I won’t be having 2 computer’s at home. I took out the wireless router. After a moment, I realized that the modem given by TM is also a router. This means I can auto set the router to connect to Streamyx since previously I did that to my wireless router. I tried all the IP which is possible to access my router but i was unsuccessful. So check on the manual and found out that the IP is 192.168.1.254 to access my Billion 5112S router homepage.

Now, this is where the problem starts. I followed the default user name and password given was both ‘admin’. So I tried to enter but i can’t. I did a master reset on the router and tried the default user name and password as stated in the manual but was still unsuccessful. So then I called the Streamyx Customer support and asked them what is the password for the router. A lady picked up and said, we can’t give u the password. I asked her why but she said we can’t give. What the HELL !! Its my rights to handle the router and they said they can’t give the password !! Then she asked me, do you want to do auto configuration ? I said yes. and immediately she said “Oo, we don’t support auto configuration”. Fine, I told her, I don’t wanna do auto configuration but I wanna do other settings like DMZ and stuff. She keep replying, we don’t support auto configuration. She kept shouting and scolding me for asking the same thing again and again. But the fact is, she doesn’t know what am I asking and she can’t actually answer me !!

Finally, I went to LowYat.Net and got the answer. The default password for this model is not “admin”, It is actually “password”. So simple !! And now I am using the auto configuration perfectly here !!

If only I get to speak to that lady from the Streamyx customer support again !!

VOIP is getting better and better !!

January 28th, 2008 | Category: Technology

VOIP is a technology where you can make calls using your internet connection to normal phone lines. VOIP means Voice Over Internet Protocol. All you need is a broadband connection and a mic and a provider for you to make calls.
* This is for those who don’t really know what is VOIP.

VOIP allows you to call anywhere around the world with cheap rates. I’ve tried a few providers and I feel I’ve found a cool and cheap VOIP provider. Especially for those who is living in Malaysia, you would wanna try LowRateVoip. So far, I feel that they are a very good VOIP provider. It allows you to call to Malaysian phones for about 0.02 USD. It even gives you free calls to many other countries for 30 days starting from the date you purchase some credit.

Other than that, you can even buy a VOIP-In number. This is to allow people around you to call your computer using their normal phone lines with normal local charges. LowRateVoip also allows call conferencing. This means you can talk to a few people at the same time.

According to what I’ve tested, the quality of calling major country’s like U.S and Canada is very satisfying. Its transmits the sound very fast as if the person was just beside you. Basically, this is a cheaper way to call out anywhere. So go look up and enjoy this kinda facility.

Free mobile text messaging with BING

November 02nd, 2007 | Category: Technology

Ever wondered going online on your mobile or messaging anyone for free ??? You don’t need a superb handphone to do that. A simple java enabled phone will allow you to go online and text for free.

For now, in Malaysia I guess only Maxis and Celcom users will be able to use this service as DiGi has not yet improved their GPRS services. I’ve been looking around for a long time to text for free through GPRS. Eveytime I found one, after a few days it can’t be used.

Now this is one of the cool softwares I found. This software allows you to text your friends and also get online in MSN, Yahoo, Gtalk, ICQ and AIM for a very very low rate.

BING

This means you can be online wherever you go. Among all the softwares I’ve used, this is the cheapest I have found. This software is really cool but it has defects as well. It is not really reliable all the times. Sometimes you can’t log in or some times your contacts will not be there although they are online. I am using Motorola SLVR L7, I had some issue where it will hang when too many people text you at the same time. But my friends who tested it on Nokia, Samsung, and even Motorola had no problems. And also, to use this service, both parties must on the software. It’s sumthing like you got to log in to chat. This will not be usefull if you need to send only 1 message but it will be usefull if you are gonna chat for long. You just need to inform your friend to get online on Bing and then text all you want in it. In my experience, I have used the software for about 30 minutes of chatting and it cost me 10 cents.

You can have it a try.
Download the software at their official webpage,
www.bing.im

BingBing 2

I have come across other cool softwares too. I will post more about it later.

After a long bloggin break..google caught my attention…

November 01st, 2007 | Category: General, Technology

I’ve stopped bloggin for the pass few weeks due to my SPM examinations and now just felt like posting something. Google brought me back…

Recently there’s been a talk about PageRanks, and I still couldn’t understand a few things ?? Google ranks all the sites and this rank is very important to many people especially bloggers. And I just realised that I got PR 1 which is so so… NOT NICE..

Many of my friends who just started bloggin got PR 2. How is this posible ??

Hope Google finalizes all the page ranks properly in the end.
