Windows Search for XP users

Category: General

New operating system has its pro’s and con’s. One of Windows major improvement after XP into Vista was its Windows Search. When you click the start button, you can type anything and within seconds it will give you the results. This has actually made many things easier instead of the old Windows Search function where it will have to look all through your drive. Now, the new Windows Search uses the indexing method.

XP has been the major operating system which is very stable until today but it was lacking this feature since it was implemented in Windows Vista. I have actually just installed Windows XP as another operating system because I would like to do many projects but I’m being stopped by the operating system. I have Creative Audigy Value sound card and other recording and audio devices and I want to use it for some recording purpose but due to driver incompatibility in Vista and also in Windows 7, I decided to use XP as another operating system to suit my other requirements.

Whenever I use it, I find it a little difficult after getting used to Windows 7 and Vista. Especially without the search option, it really makes it difficult to go and search for the file I want which will be inside a few folders. Finally I found an update from Microsoft where you can actually install Windows search in Windows XP. This is a screen shot of how it looks :

So XP users, you can start enjoying this feature. You can download it from the link above directly from the Microsoft’s web site.
